Inspiration for a collection can be found anywhere, from a red carpet look to something you see on the street. For my collection, the look is a very edgy girl with a soft, ethereal side. I got inspired by tons of collections but the one that stuck out to me the most was Balmain (by Christoper Decarnin). The Spring/Summer 2009 collection he designed was filled with embellished mini dresses, ripped acid wash jeans, and Sgt. Pepper style jackets. Each piece was beautiful handmade couture, yet it looked so easy going and relaxed.
The best way to collect all your inspiration, is to make an Inspiration Board. Mine consist of cut outs from fashion magazines, fabric scraps, sketches, pictures of celebrities, etc. I'm constantly collecting pictures and ripping pages out from magazines, because you never know when a great idea will hit.
